We had 2 warm days this week- woohoooo and while it felt great, really great to get out, it was shocking to see the streets and the trash and the crap everywhere.. I mostly strolled with Oskar which causes me to look at the sidewalk in order to avoid slippery ice, and bumps, and now dog crap since it's everywhere. What is it.. do people think because there are several inches of snow on the ground that their trash and dog poo will just magically disappear into it? It reminds me of how eventually most things are revealed.. you can never really "hide" anything.

so far
So far I haven't kept up with this as intended which reminds me of many things I like to "intend" to do. I have several intentions that I think about everyday but seldom ever actually do.. hmm such as blogging, doing a craft with my son or just by myself, meeting with my spanish meetup group of which I've been a part of since September 2007 and have yet to attend a meetup, make dinner- a good one not just whatever i decide 10 minutes before I do it, clean (ok I do this everyday but my intentions are always to do ALL of it at once). I'm sure there is more but on to something else.

Make it home
Sledding with Dani & Milena
Winter, winter, winter.. As much as I was dreading this winter, it has been pretty great really. For the past week, Oskar & I have gotten out of the house everyday- woohoo! The best part is that we've been with other people too. It is amazing what a few hours of companionship can do:) My dear friend Dani and her baby Milena live about a block away so we get together with them at least twice a week. My other friend Gracie also lives very close and she picks Oskar & I up several times a week to get out with her & Parker. We are so thankful for these friends and there generosity toward us. It is still lonely being so far from family and friends, but I feel like I'm finally letting myself really dig in here. It took me a year & a half but I finally realized my need to be fully present wherever we live- even if I know it's temporary. So if you're reading this and find yourself in a "temporary" living situation - don't hold back! make it home- it may be the last home you ever know!

TV
Oskar coloring Elmo
I'm back again and hopefully will keep up with posting more often than once a year- ha. I usually share info/photos through facebook but this seems more thoughtful. This week has been great. Oskar and I have gotten out of the apartment everyday I think- thanks to our wonderful neighbors & friends who pick us up- thanks Gracie & Daniela!:) David was home sick for a few days last week so he has been going to school a bit more than usual this week in preparation for his upcoming senior show- April 3! He usually is able to spend some time with us either in the morning or evening- sometimes both:). Oskar likes to immediately show daddy what he's doing when he walks in- which yesterday was watching a youtube video of Elmo- so David walks in and Oskar points to the computer and says "Elmo!" It's adorable. Up until a few weeks ago, I was very into not letting Oskar watch TV on a regular basis and I do still feel that way, but I've loosened up a bit. We've watched Sesame Street together a couple of times and we have an Elmo book and I started letting him watch a couple of short youtube Elmo skits, partly because I love Elmo too:). I do, I think he's hilarious. I'm realizing just how much Sesame Street helped shaped my sense of humor growing up, perhaps I should get into puppeteering!

2007
I know, I know, it's 2008, it's a new year. But I am feeling nostalgic and wish to share some photos of the past year. 2007 was a huge year in the life of these two foxes. We found out about our baby, D had his first solo show at Packer Schopf Gallery in Chicago, D applied to 3 grad schools and got into his top choice RIT, I lost my wonderful grandfather in late July 2007, we moved from Chicago to Rochester, NY in early August 2007, D started grad school September 3, 2007, we greeted our beautiful bouncing baby boy, Oskar David on September 8, 2007. Many family and friends came to visit and support us after Oskar's birth for which we are sooo grateful. We traveled to Chicago and Fort Wayne, IN for Thanksgiving and to Monroe City, IN for Christmas. WHEW!:)
